Campaigns
Whether it’s opposing budget cuts or school closings, working with community partners or organizing to make sure special ed students get the services they’re entitled to, the union is fighting for our children, our schools and our members. Find out here about the current campaigns and initiatives in which we are involved.
CAMPAIGN
If you could save a life by taking a walk, would you? Join the thousands of colleagues who make the UFT a top fundraiser for the fight against breast cancer.
FUNDRAISING
The UFT Disaster Relief Fund was established in the wake of the 9/11 attacks to help members who lost loved ones in that tragedy. Since then, the fund has helped members who have been personally affected by disasters such as a fire or flooding in their homes and to assist communities that have been afflicted by natural disasters.
CAMPAIGN
Charter school teachers in the Bronx who elected to join the UFT need your help. They have been working for two years without a contract and have been mistreated and harassed by their administration. We've organized a call-in campaign to urge the school's board members to respect teachers' rights.
CAMPAIGN
The right to vote is the heart of our democracy. Throughout our history, Americans have fought for and died for this most basic right. But today that right is under attack like never before. In 2011 alone, two-thirds of state legislatures introduced laws that undermine the right to vote.
CAMPAIGN
We want to make sure that students with IEPs are not just getting the services they are mandated to get, but actually getting the support they need to succeed.
